Strategic Investment for Multi-Label Expansion
On June 23, SM Entertainment announced it will complete the share acquisition of Great M Entertainment on June 27. This move is part of SM’s ‘SM 3.0’ strategy, focused on expanding its multi-label business model through external investments.
SM praised Great M CEO Kim Young Sun’s proven producing skills and the musical direction of 82MAJOR as strong fits for SM’s vision. The company aims to develop top-tier intellectual property and broaden its musical spectrum for greater sustainability and global competitiveness.
Great M Entertainment’s Growth
Founded in March 2020, Great M Entertainment is led by former FNC executive Kim Young Sun. Their group 82MAJOR debuted in October 2023, showcasing a hip-hop sound. SM plans to further diversify its music portfolio and expand its global reach through continued investments in promising labels.
This acquisition marks a significant step in SM’s efforts to lead the K-pop industry with innovative and diverse music projects.
