NewJeans’ Minji Opens Up in Birthday Letter: “Chasing My Own Happiness Might Seem Reckless”
On her birthday, Minji of NewJeans shared a sincere message with fans, reflecting on personal growth, lost time, and future hopes—despite the group’s ongoing legal issues with ADOR.
In a letter posted on May 7 via the group’s independent SNS account, Minji wrote,
“I’ve been busier than expected. There’s so much I want to say, but my thoughts feel messy.”
She added:
“It might seem reckless to chase happiness, but sacrificing the present for an uncertain future feels unfair to myself.”
Expressing nostalgia for simpler times, she wrote:
“I miss the days we shared music and emotions, but I’m still looking forward. We’re not standing still—we’re deepening.”
In a past statement on YouTube, Minji affirmed their loyalty to ADOR’s original leadership under Min Hee-jin, saying:
“We want the original ADOR—where management and production are united under Min Hee-jin.”
Legal Dispute and Activity Suspension
Since November 2024, NewJeans has been locked in a legal dispute with ADOR, seeking to terminate their contract. The group rebranded as NJZ and began independent promotions.
In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit to uphold the contract and block further promotions. The court ruled in favor of ADOR, forcing NewJeans to halt activities temporarily.
