I-DLE Announces Rebranding and Comeback with ‘We are’
I-DLE held a press conference in Seoul on May 19 to celebrate the release of their 8th mini album, We are. This marks their first comeback after all members renewed their contracts and officially dropped the ‘(G)’ from their name, signaling a refreshed group identity.
During the event, members expressed excitement about their return. Soyeon shared, “It’s been 10 months, and since it’s our first album after re-signing, we’re nervous but hopeful.” Miyeon and Minnie emphasized their dedication, adding that all five members participated in the album’s creation.
Rebranding and New Musical Direction
Miyeon explained, “We always planned to drop the ‘G’ once we felt we’d made our mark. Now, it feels right to simply be ‘I-DLE.'” The group aims to showcase an even broader range of music and concepts, reflecting their growth and unity after re-signing with Cube Entertainment.
Addressing the Ticket Comment Controversy
Yuqi directly addressed her recent comment about buying concert tickets out-of-pocket, which sparked some online debate. She apologized for any misunderstanding, explaining, “I was just joking around. I never meant to upset our fans, whom I care about deeply.” The group clarified that their intent was not to criticize fans or the company, and Soyeon asked for understanding, noting Yuqi’s playful personality.
Despite the brief controversy, I-DLE’s honest communication and strong bond with fans reassured their fandom. The group is now focused on their latest promotions and future activities, promising more exciting transformations to come.
