The legal dispute over FIFTY FIFTY’s global hit ‘Cupid’ continues as Attract, the group’s agency, has filed an appeal following their initial loss in the copyright lawsuit against production company The Givers.

Appeal Filed by Attract
On May 27, Attract submitted an appeal to the Seoul Central District Court, challenging the previous ruling that dismissed their claims over the copyright of ‘Cupid.’ The lawsuit originally began in November 2023, with Attract asserting their rights to the song’s copyright, which The Givers currently holds.
Background of the Dispute
The conflict started when Attract accused The Givers of deleting key project data during a handover and unlawfully claiming the copyright to ‘Cupid.’ The Givers, meanwhile, emphasized that the court’s decision clarifies the legal rights between the parties involved.
Ongoing Legal Actions
Attract has announced plans for further legal action, including challenging the process of copyright registration and addressing alleged contract violations. The agency has also appointed a new legal team to strengthen their case.
‘Cupid,’ released in 2023 by FIFTY FIFTY, gained international fame by charting on the Billboard Hot 100, but its success has been overshadowed by ongoing legal battles over its ownership.
The next round of court proceedings will determine the future of the song’s copyright and may set a precedent for similar cases in the K-pop industry.
