SM Entertainment has become the second-largest shareholder in Great M Entertainment, the agency behind the rising hip-hop boy group 82MAJOR. This strategic investment is set to be finalized on May 27, aiming to boost both companies’ growth through collaborative management.
The move aligns with SM’s ‘SM 3.0’ multi-label strategy, allowing more creative independence and broader music production capabilities. With this acquisition, SM plans to strengthen its global competitiveness and diversify its musical spectrum.

Formed in 2023, 82MAJOR quickly made a mark with their self-produced hip-hop tracks and impressive Billboard chart debut. Their latest mini-album, featuring the title track ‘TAKEOVER,’ has helped them expand their fanbase both in Korea and internationally.
The group recently sold out their first solo concert in Korea and will embark on a solo tour in the United States this summer, further cementing their reputation as a ‘global performance idol’ group.
